Heaven on My Mind School (HOMMIS) is more than just a school; it’s a beacon of hope and a community of learning. Founded in 2016 under the motto “Nurturing Minds, Inspiring Futures,” HOMMIS is located in the New Habitat section of Assin Foso, in the central region of Ghana. The name HOMMIS, an acronym for “Heaven, On My Mind, International School,” reflects our commitment to nurturing young minds and inspiring futures.
Our inspiration came from observing children in our community who were unable to attend school due to various circumstances, such as being orphans, having single parents, or having parents who couldn’t afford school fees. Our founder began by gathering some of these children at home and providing them with instruction from dedicated teachers, a practice we continue to this day.
Our founding vision is to nurture young minds in an environment that prioritizes academic excellence, character development, and practical life skills. We believe that children learn most effectively when they are guided and inspired, rather than simply instructed or coerced. Our goal is to provide a place where underprivileged children from diverse backgrounds can thrive, learn collaboratively, and develop into leaders within a global community.

Our Services
At HOMMIS, we offer a comprehensive range of services designed to support every aspect of our students’ development:
Academic Instruction
Our core subjects include Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies, supplemented by early literacy and numeracy development, Art, Music, Physical Education, and an introduction to Technology and computer skills.
Impacting Knowledge
We cater to a wide range of age groups, from creche and kindergarten to older students, ensuring a well-rounded education for all.
Student Support Services
We provide individualized learning
support and intervention programs,
along with school counseling
for emotional and social
development.
Health & Wellness
Our on-site school nurse conducts vision and hearing screenings, and we promote health education and hygiene awareness.
Safe Recess and Physical Activity Programs
We offer clubs, after-school enrichment programs, and a Parents/Teachers Association. Our students also enjoy music performances and art showcases.
Conflict Resolution and Friendship Skills
We teach our students how to
resolve conflicts and build strong, healthy friendships.
